Whether you are an experienced private service professional or exploring an opportunity to bring your skills into a private household setting, we want you to feel informed and confident throughout the process.

Below you’ll find answers to common questions about working with Montana Luxury Estate Staffing, applying for opportunities, our placement process, and managing your Candidate Profile.

Working With Montana Luxury Estate Staffing

What types of positions do you recruit for?

We recruit experienced professionals for private homes, luxury estates, ranches, and seasonal residences throughout Montana.

Positions may include:

  • Estate Managers
  • Household Managers
  • Family Assistants
  • Personal Assistants
  • Lead Housekeepers & Housekeepers
  • Private Chefs
  • Career & ROTA Nannies
  • Newborn Care Specialists
  • Ranch Hands & Ranch Professionals

Positions may be long-term, short-term, temporary, or seasonal depending on the needs of the household. Because every private home operates differently, we also recruit for hybrid positions that combine responsibilities across multiple areas of household or estate management.

What experience do I need to work in a private household or estate?

Our clients are looking for exceptional professionals who bring experience, reliability, discretion, and a genuine commitment to service.

Previous private household or estate experience is highly valued and may be required for many positions. However, relevant experience in luxury hospitality, property management, culinary service, childcare, ranch operations, or another high-level service environment may translate well to certain private service roles.

Every opportunity has different requirements, and we consider your complete professional background when determining whether your experience aligns with a particular position.

What qualities do you look for in candidates?

Qualifications and experience are important, but successful private service professionals bring much more to a household.

We look for individuals who demonstrate professionalism and discretion, reliability, excellent communication, attention to detail, initiative, adaptability, a strong work ethic, respect for privacy, and pride in providing exceptional service.

Above all, we look for professionals who understand the trust and responsibility that come with working within someone’s home and who are interested in building a positive, professional relationship with the household they serve.

Is there a fee to apply or be placed?

No. There is never a fee for professionals to apply, be represented, or accept a placement through Montana Luxury Estate Staffing.

Our placement fees are paid by the client household, never by the candidate.

Why work with Montana Luxury Estate Staffing?

Finding the right household is just as important as finding the right professional.

We believe successful placements should work for both sides. That means taking the time to understand your experience, strengths, expectations, and career goals rather than simply matching your résumé to a job description.

We partner with discerning households throughout Montana that value exceptional service and experienced professionals. Our goal is to create thoughtful introductions that lead to rewarding positions, mutual respect, and lasting professional relationships.

We’re in the business of trusted placements and happy homes — for the families we serve and the exceptional professionals who make those homes thrive.

Applying & Your Candidate Profile

How do I get started?

The first step is to create your Candidate Profile and provide information about your professional background, experience, qualifications, strengths, availability, and the type of opportunity you’re seeking.

You can also browse our Job Board for current openings. Even if you don’t see the right position today, having a completed profile allows us to consider you for future opportunities that may be a better fit.

What do I need to apply?

Please have the following information ready to upload to your Candidate Portal:

  • An updated résumé reflecting your relevant experience
  • A recent, professional photo
  • Education and certification information
  • Contact information, including email and phone number, for three professional references
  • Professional reference letters, where available
  • Any relevant certifications, licenses, or documentation required for your field or a particular position, such as CPR/First Aid certification, a valid driver’s license, or passport
Do I need professional references?

Yes. Professional references are an important part of our vetting process.

We ask candidates to provide contact information for at least three professional references from previous employers or principals whenever possible. Personal references from friends or family cannot be substituted for professional references.

Should I apply if I don’t meet every requirement?

You are welcome to apply if your professional background meaningfully aligns with the position, even if you don’t meet every preferred qualification.

Client requirements vary considerably from one household and role to another. A particular requirement may be essential for one position but irrelevant to another.

If your experience isn’t the right fit for the position you’re currently interested in, your profile may still align strongly with a future opportunity.

Can I apply for more than one position?

Yes. If your experience and qualifications align with multiple open positions, you are welcome to express interest in each.

If you have previously applied or created a Candidate Profile, you do not need to create a new account or submit all of your information again. Instead, keep your existing profile, résumé, availability, and other information up to date.

What if I don’t see a suitable position on the Job Board?

We encourage qualified professionals to create a Candidate Profile even when there isn’t currently an opening that matches what they’re looking for.

Private household staffing needs can arise quickly. Keeping your information on file allows us to consider you for future opportunities that align with your background, location, availability, and career goals.

We also recommend checking our Job Board periodically for new private household, estate, and ranch opportunities throughout Montana.

Opportunities & Candidate Selection

How are candidates selected for a position?

We look beyond a résumé to understand the professional behind it.

For each search, we consider factors such as relevant experience, professional references, skills, certifications, availability, location, compensation expectations, employment history, and experience with the particular responsibilities of the role.

Depending on the position, a client may also require experience with a particular age or number of children, a certain size or type of property, a fully staffed household, specific duties, language skills, licenses, or other specialized qualifications.

Just as importantly, we consider whether your professional style, expectations, and career goals align with the household and the opportunity.

Our goal isn’t simply to fill an open position. We want both the professional and the household to have the potential for a successful and lasting working relationship.

Why wasn’t I selected for a position or interview?

Not being selected for a particular opportunity does not necessarily reflect negatively on your overall qualifications.

Every household has its own requirements, and sometimes another professional simply aligns more closely with the specific needs of that position.

Factors can include:

  • The amount or type of experience required
  • Previous private household or industry experience
  • Specific skills, certifications, or licenses
  • Driving distance or relocation requirements
  • Salary expectations
  • Schedule and availability
  • Longevity in previous positions
  • Experience with particular ages or numbers of children
  • Experience within a similar size or type of property
  • Experience working within a fully staffed household
  • The scope and level of responsibility of previous roles
  • Other client-specific requirements

Some clients may require five, ten, fifteen, or more years of experience or place particular importance on candidates who have remained in previous positions for two to three years or longer.

If you aren’t selected for one opportunity, qualified candidates can remain in our professional network and may be considered for future positions that are better aligned with their experience.

Will submitting my information guarantee a position?

No. Creating a Candidate Profile or applying for a position does not guarantee employment, an interview, or placement.

Every client and position has unique requirements, and we carefully consider whether a candidate’s experience, qualifications, availability, expectations, and professional background align with a particular household.

If we don’t currently have the right opportunity for you, that doesn’t mean there won’t be one in the future.

When will I hear back about my application?

Response times vary depending on our current searches and how closely your background aligns with an available position.

If you’re being actively considered for an opportunity, a member of our team will contact you. If you don’t hear from us immediately, it may simply mean we haven’t yet identified a position that is the right fit.

Rather than calling the office to request an application update, please email us if you have important new information that may affect your candidacy. Keeping your Candidate Profile current will also help us accurately consider you for future opportunities.

The salary or schedule doesn’t work for me. Should I still apply?

If the advertised compensation or schedule doesn’t work for you, that particular opportunity is unlikely to be the right fit.

We encourage you to keep your Candidate Profile current, however, as other positions may offer different schedules, compensation, benefits, or working arrangements.

If you are being considered for a role and have questions about its compensation or schedule, you can discuss those details with your recruiter.

Interviews & The Placement Process

How does the placement process work?

The process begins with your Candidate Profile, which allows us to understand your professional background, qualifications, experience, and career goals.

If your experience aligns with our standards and a current or upcoming opportunity, we may contact you for an initial phone or video interview.

Qualified candidates may then progress through additional screening, reference verification, and interviews before being presented to a client. The client may conduct one or more interviews, and some placements may include a paid in-home trial before a final decision is made.

For certain positions, a trial may last approximately two to five days, giving both you and the household an opportunity to experience working together and determine whether the position feels like the right long-term fit.

Your recruiter will guide you through the applicable steps as the process progresses.

Where can I get more information about a position?

We intentionally keep public job postings relatively general to protect the privacy and security of our client households.

If you are being considered for a specific opportunity, your recruiter will provide additional relevant information about the position, responsibilities, expectations, and household during the interview process.

Can you tell me who the family is before I interview?

We do not disclose identifying client information publicly or during the early stages of an application.

Protecting the privacy and security of our client households is an important part of our work. We will provide appropriate non-identifying information about the household and position so that you can determine whether you would like to continue with the opportunity.

Additional information will be shared at the appropriate stage of the interview process.

Who is the recruiter for a particular position, and can I contact them directly?

If you are actively being considered for a position, the recruiter handling that search will contact you directly.

There is no need to identify or contact a recruiter before that point. If there is important information we need to know regarding your application or availability, please contact our team by email rather than calling the office.

Are my details kept confidential?

Yes. Discretion and confidentiality are fundamental to private household staffing.

Information shared between Montana Luxury Estate Staffing, our clients, and prospective candidates is treated as confidential and handled with care throughout the recruitment and placement process.

We expect the same level of discretion from the professionals we represent, particularly regarding information concerning clients, their families, homes, lifestyles, and personal affairs.

Montana Positions & Employment

Where in Montana do you recruit?

Montana Luxury Estate Staffing recruits for private homes, luxury estates, and ranches throughout Montana, with a particular focus on Bozeman, Big Sky, Billings, Missoula, Kalispell, and Whitefish, as well as surrounding communities.

Opportunities may be within primary residences, ranch properties, vacation homes, or seasonal estates.

If you’re open to relocating within Montana, include that information in your Candidate Profile so we can consider you for a broader range of opportunities.

Do you offer relocation or live-in opportunities?

Some positions are open to professionals relocating to Montana, and some households may provide live-in accommodations or on-property housing.

These arrangements are specific to each position. Relocation assistance, housing, or other benefits should not be assumed unless they are included as part of the individual employment opportunity.

If you live outside Montana but are interested in relocating, or if you have a preference for live-in or live-out employment, include those details in your Candidate Profile.

Do you place temporary and seasonal professionals?

Yes. In addition to long-term career placements, we work with households seeking short-term, temporary, and seasonal professionals.

These opportunities can be particularly relevant to Montana’s vacation homes, seasonal residences, ranches, and families requiring additional support for a defined period.

If you’re open to temporary or seasonal employment, indicate this in your Candidate Profile.

Who will be my employer if I am placed?

Montana Luxury Estate Staffing is a placement agency and is not your employer of record.

If you accept a position, your employment relationship will be directly with the client or household hiring you.

We strongly encourage both parties to use a written employment agreement that clearly establishes responsibilities, schedule, compensation, paid time off, benefits, expectations, and other important terms of employment.

Clear expectations from the beginning help create a positive and professional working relationship for everyone involved.
